About Journal
The Computational Engineering and Physical Modeling (CEPM) is an international open-access journal (online) published quarterly by Pouyan Press which was founded in 2017.
Recent developments of experimental studies along with computational techniques lead to the comprehensive understanding of engineering phenomena. Computational Engineering and Physical Modeling (CEPM) is offering the multidisciplinary forum for the latest researches and advanced practices to be published in the area of computational engineering and physical modeling.
Computational engineering as an innovative discipline fusing together the expertise of well-established engineering fields, computational sciences and applied mathematics, utilizes computers and advanced computational methods to analyze and solve engineering problems. The knowledge of mathematics and computational science is used to formulate algorithms and develop software to simulate scenarios and make predictions. In addition to the traditional methodologies of theoretical modelling and experimental exploration, simulation has become an important tool in applications from fundamental research to product development. Computational engineering covers a variety of fields from aircraft design to energy infrastructure to weather prediction and climate research.
Physical modeling is a way of modeling and simulating systems that consist of real physical components. It employs a physical network approach. Physical models are incredibly useful when determining project feasibility and identifying potential problems. A physical model is a simplified material representation, usually on a reduced scale, of an object or phenomenon that needs to investigated. The model can be used to simulate the physical conditions involved and to predict the particular constraints of the situation. These constraints can be taken into account and tested, and solutions implemented before undertaking the final steps of a project. Physical models are widely used in fields of civil/structural engineering, mechanical systems, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science and technology, electrical systems, marine structures, geology and oceanography, mining engineering, environmental science and engineering, architecture, and biology.
The focus of this journal is publishing the works related to experimental programs and simulation of engineering systems in all fields. The articles covering experimental works on all areas of engineering, high performance computing and techniques to gain efficiency, modeling and simulation, algorithms for solving discrete and continuous problems, analysis and visualization of data, mathematical foundations including numerical and applied linear algebra, initial and boundary value problems, fourier analysis, optimization, data science for developing methods and algorithms to handle and extract knowledge from large scientific data are highly encouraged for submission.

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE
CEPM is a quarterly publication releasing four seasonal issues each year (Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn). Exact schedule of publication for each season is as the following:
GOVERNING BODY
CEPM has a very strong editorial board, whose members are recognized experts in the subject areas included within the journal scope. The full names and affiliations of the journal editors are provided on the journal Web site (http://www.jcepm.com/journal/editorial.board).
EDITOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Editors of scientific journals have responsibilities toward the authors who provide the contents of the journals, the peer reviewers who comment on the suitability of manuscripts for publication, the journal readers and the scientific community, the publishers of the journals, and the public as a whole (http://www.jcepm.com/journal/process?ethics).
EDITORIAL BOARD PARTICIPATION
The editor-in-chief should define the terms and roles of the editors and editorial board that are appointed by and report to him or her. The editor-in-chief or principal editor should ensure that the journal editors and editorial board are identified in the journal masthead; receive the necessary training and oversight to adequately perform editorial functions; and actively perform their responsibilities, such as assigning reviewers or reviewing manuscripts and advising on policy considerations.
EDITORIAL FREEDOM
The CEPM adopts the editor freedom, which holds that Editors-in-Chief have full authority over the entire content of the selected articles, which are to be published in CEPM. Some of the privileges are as follows.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Manuscripts submitted to journals are privileged communications that are authors’ private, confidential property, and authors may be harmed by premature disclosure of any or all of a manuscript’s details. Editors therefore must not share information about manuscripts, including whether they have been received and are under review, their content and status in the review process, criticism by reviewers, and their ultimate fate, to anyone other than the authors and reviewers. CEPM has some policies on confidentiality as follows.
TIMELINESS OF THE PUBLICATION PROCESS
The Editor-in-Chief of CEPM ensures timely processing of manuscripts with the resources available with them. The Editor-in-Chief of CEPM should endeavor to reject the manuscript as soon as possible to allow authors to submit to a different journal. CEPM’s hard copy and electronic journals are released on timely schedule. Electronic issues are published online in a timely manner as frequently as stated at the same time of hard copy production. Timeliness is essential for electronic journals, or e-journals and printed journals. If the e-journals are publishing distinct issues at a stated frequency, these issues should appear online in a timely manner and printed journals are released or dispatched to the various authorities who seek the hard copy. Editors are responsible for monitoring the turnaround time for every publishing stage from manuscript receipt to publication or rejection. Processing data and evaluating trends can help editors scrutinize acceptance and rejection rates of specific types of manuscripts, manage the inventory/backlog of accepted manuscripts, track reviewers’ and editors’ performance, and assess staffing needs. In this way, CEPM has an ability to publish on time implies a healthy backlog of manuscripts essential for ongoing viability.
INTEGRITY

When an author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher to retract or correct the manuscript. If a correction is needed, journals should follow these minimum standards:
RESUBMISSIONS
Manuscripts that have been rejected are not eligible for further consideration by the CEPM journal and thus rejected manuscript should not be resubmitted. If a revision is allowed, it will be explicitly stated in the Editor’s decision. Other revisions of previously rejected manuscripts will be promptly returned to the authors without review.
OVERLAPPING PUBLICATIONS
There are four types of overlapping publications including Duplicate submission, Duplicate publication, Acceptable secondary publication and manuscript based on the same database.
PROTECTING INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Protecting intellectual property is a primary responsibility of the reviewer and the editor. Reviewers, therefore, will not use ideas from or show another person the manuscript they have been asked to review without the explicit permission of the manuscript's author, obtained through the journal editor. Advice regarding specific, limited aspects of the manuscript may be sought from colleagues with specific expertise, provided the author’s identity and intellectual property remain secure.
VIOLATION OF PUBLICATION ETHICS
All manuscripts under review or published with CEPM are subject to screening using Plagiarism Prevention Software. Plagiarism is a serious violation of publication ethics. Other violations include duplicate publication, data fabrication and falsification, and improper credit of author contribution. (http://www.jcepm.com/journal/process?ethics).
HANDLING CASES OF MISCONDUCT
Once CEPM confirms a violation against CEPM’s publication ethics, CEPM addresses ethical concerns diligently in various issue-specific standard practices (http://www.jcepm.com/journal/process?ethics).
SHARING OF REVIEWING RESPONSIBILITIES
Sharing of reviewing responsibilities is inappropriate. The review is the sole responsibility of the person to whom it was assigned by the journal editor. Students and colleagues should not be asked to prepare reviews unless the journal editor has given explicit prior approval. Each person contributing to a review should receive formal recognition.
SUPPLEMENTS AND SPECIAL SERIES
Supplements are collections of articles that deal with related issues or topics, are published as a separate issue of the journal or as part of a regular issue, and may be funded by sources other than the journal publisher. Because funding sources can bias the contents of supplements through the choice of topics and viewpoints, journals should adopt the following principles, which also apply to theme issues, or special series that have external funding and/or guest editors:
Journals should not carry advertisements and Editors should have full and final authority for approving print and online advertisements and for enforcing advertising policy. Further, Editors should consider all criticisms of advertisements for publication.
