Abstract

In the present work, the analysis of rigid pavement resting on Pasternak soil foundation subjected to aircraft load is investigated. A three-dimensional (3-D) finite element rigid pavement model was developed by means of ANSYS software to examine the response parameters and stress resultants. The concrete pavement and subbase were modeled using SOLID 186 element. The results of the numerical problem analyzed in this work are verified by solving a one-dimensional (1-D) model of the same problem by FEM algorithm using MATLAB software, and the results are in excellent agreement with a maximum divergence of less than 3.82 percent, proving the accuracy of the program used in the present study. According to the findings of the research, the thickness of the pavement has a significant effect on the structural behavior of rigid pavement and the maximum deformations and stresses were achieved when the load was applied at the slab corner.
